San Mateo's Original Nick's on El Camino has been around for over 15 years and is even better than ever, especially because Markus Tarling took over ownership in 2010 and spruced it up! If it's been a while since you've dropped in for delicious burgers, pizza, pasta and brews, or if you're looking for the perfect gift for the die-hard Nick's fan in your world (and there are MANY out there!).
Markus Tarling knew exactly how to enhance his new pride and joy because he was a customer there for 15 years before he bought it. Smart man! Centrally and conveniently located in San Mateo, a few blocks north of Hwy 92 on El Camino Real, Original Nick's is open daily from 11am to 10pm, offers free parking in the rear of the building, has a great party room upstairs equipped with a plasma TV and arcade games, and keeps patrons happy with 18 beers on tap and a happy hour all day Wednesdays and every weekday from 4-6pm. The restaurant has 4 more plasma TVs downstairs for easy viewing of sports games and every Tuesday is now PINT night, where pints cost only $3.50 from 4-10pm. The menu is full of tasty grub: pizza, calzones, garlic cheese bread, fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, calamari and more, and there are over 10 different burger choices, ensuring nobody in your group will go home with their tank on empty. Though today's deal is valid for Dine-In Orders Only, they do offer take out too, so keep them in mind when you're working hard at the office and need an Original Nick's fix!
Great customer service, with good food & drink. The bar is cool with lots of beers on tap. The upstairs is great if you have a large group and need some space to spread out. There's a pool table, a couch, and flat screens to watch the game on. Check'em out !!!.”
“The pizza is pretty good (although we've had a number of problems when we've had it delivered so I don't reccomend that) and they have a great selection of beers on tap. Try a san mateo special pizza and a pitcher of racer 5. You won't be disappointed..”
“Best Pizzeria on the Peninsula! Great variety at Nicks!! They have a pretty extensive menu and over 20 beers on tap. The pizza is amazing, as is the rest of the menu. The have newer flat screens and the service is always outstanding. Highly recommend!.”
